New Canon PowerShot SD990-IS with color accent

The new Canon Canon PowerShot SD990-IS with color accent: You know—the black and white photos with one color pulled out—I know, it's exciting stuff!
Although this is considered just another point-n-shoot for the average photographer, I still love that Canon is trying to do the "color accent" within the camera. Maybe someday they will improve it enough for an SLR. Even then I would be weary using it solely because I still like to have the original color image to work with. From all the reviews I read, it mentions that it keeps an original and the color accent but I'm not sure if that means a full color version or not. And, when you choose the one color you do want to stand out, it pulls that same or similar color out from every area of the photo, which is not always the end result you want or could also look spotty. At the same time it can look really cool and cut down tons of editing if it ends up right. So, until Canon puts all of us professionals out of business, use it for fun and here are the search results I found on example photos taken by others on Flickr. I find the camera a bit pricey for not being an SLR but it does look like a pretty good camera overall.
