Tip: Tie-back's a beach

Tie-back dresses give that extra oomph to custom beauty and fit but they take a little longer to get ready with. Give an additional 30 minutes for a tie-back wedding dress and additional 15 minutes per bridesmaid dress. We all wish we could tie it as fast as the dress fitter but that usually isn't an option, it's harder than you think! One way to speed things up is to loosely tie the dresses ahead of time and then tighten after, make sure your tie is even too.

Why e-Sessions are great to do

Engagement sessions are so helpful for the couple and the photographer to get connected. I always notice how comfortable the bride and groom are in front of the camera afterward. They get to know me and I get to understand how they react together. They witness why I do crazy angles and stunts then get to view them in the end result. Getting to see themselves and how they reacted to me, what they could do differently next time or what to keep the same. I encourage all my brides & grooms to sign up for an e-Session for this reason. Even previous brides and grooms that I see at a wedding they referred me to, they just know what to do, it's truly amazing. It of course is not necessary to do an e-Session but always helpful and fun.

Call or email to add to any wedding package for an additional $150. and we'll set up an e-Session.

Mom's surgery

My mom's surgery today went well... now time for healing. I'm so relieved! Thanks to everyone sending their thoughts and prayers!

Malpass Maternity

I had such a great time with Natalee & Ryan yesterday with their maternity photos! I was able to get really creative and take some ideas I've been holding in as possibilities and they came out better than I imagined. They had great ideas themselves and even held real smiles the whole time!
Here is just a sample of one of my favorite images.

Introducing Bryona...

I am extremely honored and excited to announce that my niece, Bryona Schreckengost from Western Pa., will be assisting me at weddings this summer (and most likely next summer) as her high school senior project. Bryona will be a wonderful addition to Out of the Ordinary and also in helping us grow! Of course, I have only great things to say about Bryona but I think you will enjoy her time spent with me at weddings as well. All the final details are still being worked out and I will keep you updated in her progress. She will be experiencing the entire process: all types of photography, photo processing, albums, slideshows, emails, website design and updates, equipment, as well as attending appts. Please help us welcome Bryona!

NOTE: Every wedding and photoshoot between the beginning of June thru the end of August 2009 will have Bryona assisting me with the possible exception of the following dates in which a second photographer was requested: July 11, 2009 and August 22, 2009.

Rainy windy sleepy day

It's a very rainy, windy, sleepy day here at the Greene house. I am working on miscellaneous things and some photos but I can't seem to focus on anything solid. My mom is having bladder and hysterectomy surgery next Monday and it's weighing on my mind lately. It will be an improvement and hopefully a road to less pain eventually for her so I have to remind myself that it's actually a good thing.

Our roof is coming along slow and Jim is back to work. We were really hoping to finish it during the roofcation but it turned out to be a larger task than originally planned. Now we are tired and do not feel regenerated at all. Really wish we had time/money for a real vacation but that's part of owning a house I guess.

I'm excited about a maternity photoshoot on Sunday so be looking for that. And, next weekend starts the beginning of the wedding season for the year! Ok, well I'm outtie. :)

Focusing on fishing

Before our night went disarray with family drama last Wednesday, I managed to snap a great fishing shot. It is one of my personal favorites and the fishers' view really sets the moment. Although I have to say, no matter how much I try to correct the horizon tilt, it never looks straight to me. But believe me, it's straight. I guess it's one of those things that I just stared at too long. Taken at Glen Lake, NY in the evening.

Staycation or Roofcation?

I know that I haven't wrote in a while. We have been on STAYcation putting up a new roof so it's more like a ROOFcation! And yes, I'm getting up on the roof myself too and it's hard work. We've also been busy doing other things like trying to relax during the rainy days. Here is a comical photo I took at Nicole Egan's baby shower yesterday (Nicole, on right, is my second photographer at some previous & future weddings.) Well ~ back on the roof! Enjoy!
